While in female Measurement of individual antennal segment length (width)20(28), 51(38), 80(24), 66(22.5), 52(23.5), 46(22), 26(12), 36(6) and 20(4)μm. In male abdomen is 938-958μm long and 294-306μm wide at the apex. In female abdomen is 1.05-1.56mm long and 400-415mm width. Phallus in male is 110-127μm long. Reproductive Behavior of Echinothrips americanus (Thysanoptera: Thripidae)

Most Thysanoptera possess a haplo-diploid reproductive mode and reproduce via arrhenotoky. Females can mature eggs successively throughout almost their entire life, but in most terebrantian thrips spermiogenesis is complete by adult male eclosion, and testes contain only mature spermatids. In parasitoid wasps this phenomenon of preadult spermiogenesis is described as prospermatogeny. It is uncl...

Grass-flower thrips of the genus Chirothrips (Thysanoptera: Thripidae), with a key to species from Iran

Species of the genus Chirothrips Haliday breed and pupate only within grass florets. Each larva is restricted to a single floret, and adult body size is thus presumably related to floret size. Despite this, some Chirothrips species are distinguished only on states that are related to body size. The validity of some commonly recorded members of the C. manicatus species-group, including C. africa...
